Raffle quilt & Chili cook off

I finally finished these blocks that I won in the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild raffle a couple of years back. We were all to use inaugural QuiltCon colors, and all the blocks were raffled to four or five winners. This is my finished. Quilt as you go was not as easy as I thought it was. I find it hard to align and make the sashes meet. But then again these are one inch sashes! I feel confident in my color choices and quilting. I love how it turned out and gave it to my mother in law for her 70th birthday in January. These blocks were made by different DMQG members, whom I will never know who's which, but they are all loved!

Guess who won the church chili cook off? Me! I was very surprised with the win and received so many compliments! This stick to your ribs recipe is a keeper!

Mug rug swap, Smowman style

My cousin and I decided to mug rug swap for each season. I started by stalking all the snowmen I have been seeing on Instagram, I was sew inspired. Snowball blocks are so easy to make and mug rugs are perfect for using every inch of batting left over from quilting.

not whimsy enough, the eyes need to be closer to the nose

Felt didn't come out so pretty but okay.

Finished big size mug rug to swap! Because who doesn't love getting happy snail mail!

Christmas 2014

I can't believe how fast Christmas came and went. I tried to put my decorations around the house and tree up early, the weekend after Thanksgiving, to make it seem longer. I love the spirtual feeling with all the mangers, angels, and more Jesus than Santa. I love Christmas sewing more than anything and this is my first Christmas quilt I have actually finished! ( there are a few UFOs hiding in boxes that will get done in time for 2015, I swear!) These are  Joann's fabrics but they were a steal so I just had to. Not too bad as some fabric snobs make them out to be. I was going to applique something on the white but I lost my sewjo (sewing mojo). Hope everyone had a great December.

Baby quilt

I decided to give garage sale on Facebook one try, and I sold one quilt. I have yet to make enough quilts to sell on Etsy so this was a fast way to make some cash. I made the second one to save for a future sell.

Christmas Party

Mid December, I had a Christmas Cookie Swap Party. Guests brought crafts or wreaths to make, 'cause who likes making their wreath home alone besides Kevin McAllister? We had many great cookies to share. I made those paper-palate cookie holders tied with ribbon, although you could only jam in about six cookies. We had back-up take home bags. Save! Mugs got made, foam gingerbread men got naughty, songs were sang. We will see everyone next year!

Kelly's awesome mug!
Debi's beautiful winter wreath, with wood cut by her own husband, now nick named Mountain man.Or was it Paul Bunyan?
