1 and 2 of 5

Another Christmas in the red. So I decided to put my mad skills to work and sew away. There's scraps everywhere, I am forever picking off the ittiest pieces of thread off me, and I haven't gotten more than six hours of sleep since October. But it will be more than worth it to see smiling faces getting new quilts on Christmas day. I haven't decided whether not we will "raffle" these out, or give each daughter the one they prefer. The first is a "broken dishes" pattern that I sewed all wrong (I was supposed to rotate the blocks) done in 30's reproduction pastels and (gasp!) muslin. The back is pieced. Meandering is new to me but it is a very fast method to getting things done. The half navy block is a piece I am still looking for, I took it apart to straighten it out and misplaced it. LOL.

This one is the "Disappearing Nine Patch." It was super super easy and would definitely make it again. The back is white with a pieced strip.

Packages!

I am a slow quilter. I buy fabric and love on it, caress it, 'cause i can't bear to cut it. I stumbled upon upon Hawthorne Threads and saw some Tufted Tweets i never got around to getting. So i swooped it up.
Then i realized i needed some Sherbet Pips backing to finish up what i started.  i love those cute running dogs and the scooter kids! And I swear i am not stalking Kate Spain. But i love her lines. Finishing my Christmas quilt now! Fort Worth fabric Studio sent me some hot cocoa mix too! So sweet!

Dallas Modern Quilt Guild Challenge for Moda

Moda quilt challenge: Aneela Hoey's Little Apples. It's supposed to be a mini (done) but I couldn't help but tackle a larger project. It was a tough one! I didn't use tight enough stitches in the paper-pieced arches and when I attempted to stretch it when pinning, I kept ripping them! yikes! In the end, it came out good. If i had to do it over I would hand quilt it, but since i procrastinated, I had to get it done. The little girl laying down reading is my favorite!

Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Considering they only took minutes to cut and sew, I made six coin bags with straps for my kids' teachers and stuffed them with tea bags for those calming moments, and mini candies. I have a kindergardener, and seeing how amazing her teacher is to deal with that group, made hers a little personal. Thank you teachers for all that you do!

Etsy love

The Etsy Spring Bash was at Southside on Lamar in Downtown Dallas Saturday. Of all the great vendors they had there, I found these cute rubber stamps. A cutesy sewing machine, a button and needle, scissors, and a bee- well, we call Sara Grace "Bee". It'll be her signature stamp.

I stamped some white muslin to test them out. Cut them into 3" squares, bordered them in Kona red, made an envelope backing, and here it is. I love these stamps! All the possibilites- pillows, aprons, sticky notes, stationary!
